Comprehensive Cancer Center
The Cancer Center will house a full range of screening, diagnostic, and ambulatory treatment services in one central location. Every effort will be made to make a patient’s visit as comfortable and efficient as possible, whether they are meeting with oncologists, taking part in a clinical trial, receiving chemotherapy, participating in a support group, or attending educational lectures.
Patients understandably have many questions throughout their cancer journey. Our navigation team will serve as the patient’s guide and advocate throughout the treatment process, connecting them to the resources they need.
The Center’s on-site infusion center will provide outpatient chemotherapy and other infusion therapies six days per week, and is one of the few Brooklyn locations to offer cold cap therapy, which minimizes hair loss during treatment. The infusion center also has an adjacent laboratory, allowing our trained pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to compound and deliver medications efficiently, with minimal wait time.
Cancer Clinical Trials
Through the NewYork-Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medicine network across New York City, we are able to offer patients access to cutting-edge cancer clinical trials. NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital is a member of the NRG Oncology Group (National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project, the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group, and the Gynecologic Oncology Group) and the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology.
The cardiology practice at the Center will provide services for the entire spectrum of cardiac patients — from those at immediate risk to those with multiple, complex, and chronic conditions. The cardiology team will work together to provide comprehensive, effective, and multidisciplinary care for our patients. The team is comprised of:
General Cardiologists — specialists focused on the diagnosis, prevention, and medical management of cardiovascular disease.
Interventional Cardiologists — specialists who manage cardiac disease and perform procedures such as cardiac catheterization, stents, embolic protection, valve repair, and atherectomy.
Cardiac Electrophysiologists — clinicians focused on heart timing, electrical systems, and the diagnosis and treatment of irregular heartbeats. Electrophysiologists perform electrophysiology studies, cardiac ablation, and implantation of cardioverter-defibrillators, loop recorders, and pacemakers.
The Center for Community Health will also house the Congestive Heart Failure Program — a dedicated program for patients with congestive heart failure, providing monitoring, treatment, and follow-up care for patients with all stages of heart failure. The program will foster a team approach with personalized treatment, and work in conjunction with the NewYork-Presbyterian ventricular assist device and heart transplant programs.
