Our Approach to Care
Comprehensive, Multidisciplinary Cancer Care for the Whole Body & Mind
We use a multidisciplinary approach to care, which means we bring together clinicians from different specialties and departments to ensure that you are receiving care for your whole body and mind, not just your cancer. Our adult and pediatric patients have access to the latest anti-cancer drugs, novel and targeted therapies, and emerging minimally invasive surgical procedures. We also have numerous support programs to help manage the emotional and physical challenges of cancer.
As a comprehensive academic medical center, not only do we offer the full range of cancer care — from screening to treatment and recovery— but also treatment for other conditions that may develop as a result of cancer or a pre-existing condition. If additional care is needed, we have outstanding services throughout the medical center for related conditions in endocrinology, digestive diseases, transplant, and cardiovascular diseases. Even doctors from other cancer hospitals send their patients to us when they need additional care.
As part of your cancer treatment, you may have the opportunity to participate in a clinical trial. Clinical trials are studies of new treatment and diagnostic approaches. Almost every advance that has been achieved in medicine and has improved the lives of patients has come about as the result of clinical trials.
