Cancer Care

Cervical Cancer

The incidence of cervical cancer in the United States has decreased significantly due to the widespread implementation of screening using the Pap test and testing for the human papilloma virus (HPV). Our cervical cancer screening program allows patients with abnormal pap tests to be evaluated by a gynecologic oncologist so abnormalities can be detected early and treated with minimal impact on fertility.

Cervical Cancer Expertise

Our full-time board-certified gynecologic oncologists work with a team of specialists consisting of radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, nurses and other professionals with the experience to treat cervical cancer. All diagnostic and therapeutic modalities are available and the entire treatment plan can be completed closer to home.

Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery

The gynecologic oncologists at NYP Queens provide all surgical options for the treatment of cervical cancer and its precancerous forms, along with lifelong monitoring afterwards.

The use of traditional surgical approaches along with state-of-the-art robotic surgical techniques are personalized for the needs of each individual patient. The goal is the best therapeutic outcome with the least risk, and shortest hospital stay and recuperative period.

Radiation and Chemotherapy

Some cases of cervical cancer require radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy. Our gynecologic oncologists, along with the radiation oncologists, develop a very individualized treatment plan that addresses each patient's specific case of cervical cancer. Providing this personalized approach allows us to provide the full spectrum of treatment options, including clinical trials, in a tailored way to maximize treatment response and minimize toxicity.
