Special Operations & Disaster Management

NewYork-Presbyterian - EMT Team

At NewYork-Presbyterian, our Emergency Medical Services personnel are extensively trained and highly skilled to recognize and respond to natural and manmade disasters. We are certified in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) against chemical, biological, and nuclear materials and in the use of specific antidotes to poisoning from these and other weapons of mass destruction.

With state-of-the-art technology and equipment, the EMS Special Operations Team is continually revolutionizing the way we respond to disasters by expanding training to include disaster communications and incident command/incident management techniques. Our equipment has become the standard for decontamination and PPE, providing a totally integrated continuum of training, response, and materials for protection against and decontamination of hazardous materials.

The NewYork-Presbyterian Emergency Medical Services Special Operations Team coordinates its activities with the Mayor's Office of Emergency Management, Fire Department of the City of New York, and the New York State Department of Health and New York City Departments of Health and Mental Hygiene for readiness in case of either actual emergency need or elevated threat levels.
