CPE Internships
NewYork-Presbyterian offers CPE internships that require a minimum of 400 supervised hours of ministry practice full-time during the summer and part-time during the academic year. After a thorough orientation, interns are assigned to clinical units where they provide direct care to patients, families and staff while being supervised and supported by educators and preceptors. Participants include seminarians, qualified laypeople, members of religious orders, and other students who have the motivation and appropriate preparation for ministry and who want to learn in a multi-faith, collegial and challenging setting. The curriculum focuses on competencies in pastoral care skills, self-awareness, interpersonal relationship building and ministry development. Each student designs an individualized learning contract and undertakes in-depth learning through group and individual supervision.
