What is Intra-Hospital Consultation?
Intra-hospital consultation refers to the collaboration between hospitals and medical groups within the NewYork-Presbyterian system. Seamless video conferencing improves communication between specialists across our network, helping patients access a broader network of care and get the best treatment possible.
NewYork-Presbyterian’s intra-hospital consult program allows patients to connect with healthcare experts from different organizations using the latest digital technologies. A team of medical specialists is arranged based on each patient’s needs and then meets virtually to discuss a patient’s care and treatment options.
Examples of current intra-hospital consult programs include:
- Telepsychiatry: Psychiatric care specialists consult with patients requiring mental health care
- Telestroke: Neurologists consult with physicians and patients regarding the care of stroke and other neurologic diseases and disorders
- Telepediatrics: Pediatric specialists consult with patients, families, and physicians on cases involving children and adolescents
