Capacity Building

Community-based organizations (CBOs) are vital institutions. They are part of the fabric of our communities and operate across multiple sectors, including health, social services, education, faith-based, and business support. They are also instrumental in addressing the social determinants of health (SDOH) that prevent neighborhoods from remaining healthy.

Recognizing their unique and important role, NewYork-Presbyterian launched its Capacity Building Program, which provides grants and technical assistance to CBOs in New York City and Westchester County. Through this two-pronged approach, resources are provided to support programmatic efforts, while also offering technical assistance and expertise so that organizations can strengthen their infrastructure and thrive as a non-profit institution.

In 2023, grants from the Capacity Building Program will focus on addressing housing, unemployment, social isolation, food insecurity, health and wellness, and economic recovery. These priorities were identified by community members as part of the 2022 NewYork-Presbyterian Community Health Needs Assessment, which was foundational in the development of this program.
