Wellness & Survivorship Services
Integrative Health Care for Your Child and You
NewYork-Presbyterian has specialized programs to support wellness in our patients and their families during and after treatment for cancer and blood disorders. The Center for Comprehensive Wellness (CCW) at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital provides supportive care services for your child, you, and other family members. After treatment, the Center for Survivor Wellness provides long-term follow-up care to pediatric and adult childhood cancer survivors. At NewYork-Presbyterian Komansky Children's Hospital, the Children, Adolescent, and Young Adult Late Effects, Survivorship, and Fertility Preservation Program addresses your child's healthcare needs after treatment and into adulthood. Our teams provide care for your child's lifetime.
About our programs
We recognize how much patients and families value complementary therapies based on the latest research (as opposed to "alternative" therapies, which are not recommended). At NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, complementary therapies are offered in addition to medical care and address your child's and family's well-being. Our staff provides wellness services in inpatient and outpatient settings. Many integrative and nutrition services are free of charge; others may be covered by insurance.
As your child nears adulthood, our team members can link them with specialists at NewYork-Presbyterian who provide adult health care and are well-versed in the special medical needs of people treated for cancer as children. We want to help your child grow up to live the healthiest life possible.
Our approach to care
Our wellness and survivorship teams strive to understand the emotional and educational needs of our patients at different points in their care and provide services designed to meet those needs. Team members include social workers, psychologists, mind-body therapists, registered dietitians, pastoral care personnel, and palliative care professionals. We also research what kind of support is most helpful and which patients benefit the most. After treatment is completed, each patient receives a summary outlining recommendations for the evaluation of long-term complications and late effects, as well as educational materials related to survivorship. Our programs are staffed by experts in survivorship care, including reproductive endocrinologists offering fertility preservation consultations and assistance.

Why choose us
We understand the burden that cancer places on a child and his or her family, and we recognize the value of integrative health approaches to ease that burden. The CCW was the first pediatric oncology program in the United States to integrate complementary medicine into every patient's treatment plan. When you come to us for your child's care, wellness services are integrated into your child's care plan from day one. We also recognize that children and adolescents diagnosed with cancer today are living longer than ever before. Our survivorship programs provide specialized follow-up care to maintain their health. Our team is focused on every aspect of your child's life from the moment you walk through our doors and for the rest of his or her life.
