Women's Health

Formerly Lawrence Hospital

Women take on many roles in their lives. Whether you are a mother, daughter, wife, sister, friend — or likely a combination of many of these — it’s essential to take care of your health. NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester’s obstetrics and gynecology (ob/gyn) specialists offer you the care you need at each phase of your life, from young adulthood through motherhood, midlife through menopause. With our team, you can receive world-class care from a leading academic medical center, closer to your home.

A Team of Specialists

The establishment of ColumbiaDoctors practices in Westchester County (Scarsdale and Bronxville) gives you access to many of the highly specialized services typically found in an academic medical center, but without the commute to New York City and in the comfortable setting of a local community hospital.

Our team includes obstetrician/gynecologists from the local community, NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Westchester, and ColumbiaDoctors. They include maternal-fetal medicine specialists (for women with complex pregnancies and special obstetric needs); minimally invasive gynecologic surgeons; and urogynecologists (doctors who perform reconstructive gynecologic and urologic surgeries). They collaborate with neonatologists (newborn care physicians), anesthesiologists, maternity nurses, technologists, and other healthcare providers at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester to provide personalized care that addresses your specific needs.

Comprehensive Gynecologic Services

NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester offers minimally invasive gynecologic surgery whenever possible. Our gynecologists use hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, and robotic surgery to treat abnormal bleeding, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and benign pelvic masses. We commonly perform robotic myomectomy and hysterectomy and removal of endometriosis. Robotic surgery results in smaller incisions, less postoperative discomfort, and a quicker return to your normal activities, so you can go back to doing the things you enjoy sooner. A urogynecologist on our team performs surgery to repair pelvic floor problems, such as incontinence and organ prolapse (sagging of the bladder or uterus against the bladder), which can cause urine leakage. Most of these procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis so you can return to the comfort of your home the same day.

Reproductive Assistance

For couples having trouble conceiving, our ob/gyns collaborate with our Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility specialist. After a thorough examination and review of your medical history, we’ll conduct in-depth testing such as semen analysis and an evaluation of your hormones and reproductive organs (uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries). For certain conditions affecting fertility, we offer surgical treatment. Even if a cause is not found, many treatment options are available, such as medications to induce ovulation, intra-uterine insemination (IUI), and in vitro fertilization (IVF). Our team does all we can to increase your chance of becoming pregnant. We also offer egg freezing for couples interested in becoming pregnant in the future.
