Center for Childhood and Adolescent Behavioral Health
NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health Center

NewYork-Presbyterian’s Center for Childhood and Adolescent Behavioral Health offers specialized inpatient psychiatric services for children and adolescents at Westchester Behavioral Health Center in White Plains, New York. We provide intensive, short-term care in a safe, therapeutic environment for young people experiencing acute emotional and behavioral challenges. Care is delivered by expert teams from NewYork-Presbyterian and faculty from Weill Cornell Medicine, in facilities thoughtfully designed to promote healing, safety, and comfort.

Our inpatient services include three specialized units:

  • 7 South Child Service: A 10-bed unit serving children ages 5-12
  • Nichols Cottage Adolescent Service: A 17-bed unit serving adolescents ages 13-17
  • 2 North Adolescent Service: A 21-bed unit serving adolescents ages 13–17 (Launching Summer of 2026)

Comprehensive, Family-Centered Care

Treatment begins with a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment to understand the factors leading to hospitalization. Our multidisciplinary team includes child psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, activity therapists, and educators who work collaboratively to ensure safety, stabilize symptoms, and develop an individualized treatment and discharge plan.

Key features of care include:

  • Daily psychiatric evaluation and medication management
  • Evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Family therapy, psychoeducation, and safety planning
  • Coordination of outpatient services and referrals for post-discharge care
  • Strong collaboration with families throughout the hospitalization

Our inpatient teams care for children and adolescents with a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including:

  • Anxiety and depressive disorders
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
