Advanced Care for Motility Disorders in Children

We offer the most advanced tests and treatments for motility disorders in a child-friendly environment. These include:

  • High-resolution esophageal manometry (a test to measure the pressure inside the lower part of the esophagus)
  • High-resolution 3D anorectal manometry (a test to measure pressure in the rectum and anus)
  • Combined multichannel intraluminal impedance/pH (to assess patients with suspected reflux)
  • Wireless video capsule endoscopy (to examine the lining of the small intestine)
  • Therapeutic endoscopy
  • Biofeedback for the treatment of fecal incontinence
  • Injection of Botox in gastrointestinal sphincters (effective for treating some esophageal disorders)

Most children do not require sedation during these procedures, and your child will experience minimal to no discomfort. We take special care to educate you and your child about what to expect during testing. A child life specialist is always available to help your child understand what is going to happen during the evaluation.
