My doctor has scheduled a Video Visit with me. How can I get started?
The steps to have a video visit will vary slightly based on the care you’re receiving. Please talk with your medical professional about what the process will be for you. You will be able to have a video visit from your computer, as well as from your phone or tablet through the NYP Connect app.
When can I use this service?
Your doctor will work with you to determine which time will be best. In certain circumstances, your doctor will connect you with a medical professional related to your care with whom you can see and speak to at your convenience. Please talk to your doctor for more information.
Can I use this service for my child?
Yes. Please connect with your child’s physician to get started.
How much does this service cost?
This visit will either cost the same as an in-person appointment or is included in the cost of your visits with your physician.
Will my insurance cover this visit?
Depending on your insurance coverage, you may be able to submit a claim to your insurance and be reimbursed for this service. Please check with your insurance carrier to determine if your plan offers this as a covered benefit.
Can I get a prescription?
Yes, if medically appropriate. Like an in-person appointment, the prescription will be ready on the same day, and delivered to the pharmacy of your choice.
What equipment and devices do I need?
In order to use this service, you will need:
- A smart phone with:
- Front facing camera
- Broadband internet, with a minimum bandwidth of 1 Mb/s
- A desktop or laptop computer with a webcam
