Advanced Technology In and Outside of the Treatment Room
Whether it’s in the waiting area or the operating room, at the NYP Och Spine, we use technology to improve the way care is provided.
- Advanced imaging techniques. Our treatment facility is equipped with state-of-the-art magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), low-radiation EOS imaging machines, and three-dimensional computed tomography (CT).
- Specialized surgical suites. During a spine procedure, even the way a patient is positioned is critical to the success of the operation. Our surgeons tailor each operation to best fit the individual patient and their specific pathology by utilizing an array of techniques, including open and minimally invasive surgery, posterior and anterior approaches, and freehand and robotic surgery. Our surgical suites are designed explicitly so our surgeons can perform complex procedures without the need to move or readjust the patient during surgery. Surgeries are overseen by a neurologist who diligently monitors the nervous system. This comprehensive approach to patient safety has been shown to reduce the risk of serious complications such as nerve damage and blindness.
- Accessible tech while you wait. Outside of our treatment areas, we have integrated digital communications so that patients can keep track of their health information on their smartphones or tablets. We also use tablets in the inpatient suites, so patients can communicate with their healthcare team, order meals, and control the room environment, at the touch of a screen.
