Recreation Therapy

Recreation Therapy is a service designed to restore and rehabilitate a persons' level of functioning, independence and well-being in life activities when affected with an illness or disabling condition. Recreation Therapists provide treatment and education, and offer adapted recreational opportunities to aid in improving and maintaining physical, cognitive, emotional and social functioning thereby enhancing independent living skills and overall quality of life.

Recreation Therapists have a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Therapeutic Recreation and are certified by the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification. The certification requires a combination of education and experience before a professional is considered eligible for examination.
