The Dr. James J. Rahal Jr. Division of Infectious Diseases
Research on antibacterial and antiviral agents is conducted through the Infectious Diseases Research Laboratory (antibiotic mechanisms and resistance) and the Special Care Clinic (anti-HIV therapeutic agents). The fully accredited Infectious Diseases Fellowship Training Program at NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens was established in 1988 by James J. Rahal, M.D., Director, until his passing in 2011. Through the research laboratory, infectious diseases fellows are prepared for clinical investigation of problems in pathogenesis, diagnosis, epidemiology and treatment of human infectious diseases.
