Our Approach to Care
Holistic and comprehensive care
We recognize that every child with a skin condition is unique. We take a holistic approach to care that considers the entire patient, including their physical, emotional, and social factors. We strive to partner with patients and families in shared decision-making, empowering them with knowledge, support, and the most effective treatment options to achieve the best possible outcome for every child.
Multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary team approach
Since your child’s skin condition may be complicated and associated with other conditions, our pediatric dermatologists collaborate with other pediatric specialists throughout NewYork-Presbyterian. Together, we do whatever we can to prevent your child's skin disorder from permanently affecting their quality of life.
Through our interdisciplinary collaborations for rare, challenging conditions like epidermolysis bullosa, neurocutaneous disorders, and vascular anomalies, we bring together specialists from many other divisions and departments to create the best treatment plan for your child.
Parents as team members
As a parent or caregiver, you can help provide important information about your child. You can also help other team members shape your child's personalized treatment program based on your child's physical, emotional, and practical needs. Your input is critical for decision-making regarding your child's care and our multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary team is here to work alongside you and your family to achieve the greatest possible outcomes for your child.
