Infection Prevention

Varicella Contact isolation is used to help keep individuals who are not immune to the Chickenpox safe from having contact with patients with the active disease.

When visiting a patient:

1. Do not enter the room if you have not had Chickenpox or the vaccine.
2. If you have had Chickenpox or the vaccine, perform hand hygiene before entering the room.
3. Perform hand hygiene before leaving the room.
