In preparation for construction of the Center for Community Health, a new building to house an outpatient care center, New York Methodist Hospital (NYM), located in Park Slope, Brooklyn, has begun publishing a newsletter that will provide information and updates on the construction process.

The new building will replace a number of Hospital-owned low-rise buildings located on the NYM campus on Sixth Street, Eighth Avenue and Fifth Street. The Hospital has worked closely with Park Slope community organizations and residents to develop the façade design. The six-story facility will house an ambulatory surgery center, endoscopy suite, cancer center and specialty institutes, as well as an after-hours immediate-care center. Underground parking will expand capacity in NYM's current underground garage.

An abatement and demolition process that will prepare the site for construction will be initiated in early May. The first issue of the newsletter, which will be published about once a month, outlines the process and also provides information about the overall construction schedule, the community construction task force that will work with the Hospital and avenues of communication for registering comments and questions about the construction process.

The newsletter can be accessed by going to the Hospital's website, www.nym.org and clicking on the Outpatient Care Center section in the lower left hand corner of the home page. The newsletter is also available via email or regular postal mail (request either at [email protected]).
