New York Methodist Hospital's New Year's Baby

At their home in Sheepshead Bay, expectant-mother Lesley Paris and her husband David Paris, counted down the seconds leading up to 2007. Little did they know they were also counting down to the arrival of their first-born. "Just as the ball dropped, so did the baby," said Mr. Paris.

Elizabeth Haylie Paris made her debut at New York Methodist Hospital at 7:21 a.m. on New Year''s Day. Elizabeth, who was not due until the end of January, weighed 5 lbs., 14 oz., and was 19 inches long.

New York Methodist has long been known as "The Baby Hospital" because of its large number of deliveries. In 2006, there were more than 5,000 births.
