New York Methodist Hospital to Host Fourth Red Stocking Benefit
Nov 12, 2014
Brooklyn
New York Methodist Hospital's (NYM) fourth annual Red Stocking Soirée benefit will be held on Wednesday, November 19 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Hospital's Carrington Pavilion, 506 Sixth Street in Brooklyn.
Red Stocking is the oldest holiday fundraising drive in the country. Its legacy dates back to 1925 when Brooklyn Sunday school children and church groups generously filled Christmas stocking-shaped cardboard folders with coins to benefit their community hospital. Almost 90 years later, the Red Stocking icon remains a great source of pride for NYM, and the Red Stocking Soirée is a festive fundraiser that continues a tradition of holiday charity and helps the Hospital provide medical care for those in need.
Red Stocking Soirée attendees will enjoy culinary delights, fine wines and beverages from some of Brooklyn's best restaurants and food vendors. Participants include Angry Orchard Hard Cider, Baluchi's, Bella Gioia, Benchmark, Buttermilk Bakeshop, Camelia Cocina Mexicana, Coco Roco, Crabbie's Original Alcoholic Ginger Beer, Die Koelner Bierhalle, Grand Central Oyster Bar Brooklyn, Hanoi Vietnamese Kitchen, L'Albero dei Gelati, Luke's Lobster, Okeanos, Pull Brewing, Co., Samuel Adams, and Zito's Sandwich Shoppe. The Red Stocking Soirée also will feature a culinary-inspired silent auction and raffle and gourmet goody bags filled with Brooklyn-made products.
Entry to the Red Stocking Soiree is $100. "Patron"-level tickets are also available for an additional $50, and include recognition in the event's program and a gourmet goody bag for the first 75 Patrons to arrive. All Red Stocking Soirée tickets are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and can be purchased online at www.nym.org/redstocking or by calling NYM's Development Department at 718-780-5343.
