NEW YORK

NewYork-Presbyterian has created a new careers and nursing website to recruit the best and brightest for a wide range of clinical and non-clinical positions. The innovative site — www.nyp.org/careers — simplifies the process of searching and applying for a job, while featuring the real stories of Hospital employees.

With 16,000 employees, NewYork-Presbyterian is one of New York City's largest employers. The Hospital hired 1,918 new employees in 2009, including 658 new nurses, and expects to hire more than 1,900 employees in 2010.

"Jobseekers today are motivated to change jobs when they understand the culture of an organization and know something about their potential co-workers. This website aims to revitalize the job search process, targeting talented and motivated individuals in the city and beyond," says G. Thomas Ferguson, senior vice president and chief human resources officer at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

The site showcases a wide range of career options, including nursing and other clinical roles, quality and safety professionals, laboratory technologists, and information technology specialists, among others. Visitors can customize the site to show jobs in a specific area, and they can apply for a job online.

Videos introduce jobseekers to employees from all five Hospital campuses in Manhattan and Westchester. They meet people like Natalie, a laboratory technologist who uses state-of-the-art equipment to help patients; Jasmine, a nursing leader who mentors and empowers other nurses; and Mercedes, who started her NewYork-Presbyterian career in environmental services and was later promoted to become a patient financial adviser.

"Our careers website gives a unique look at the heart of our story: our amazing employees. These professionals deliver care with compassion, saving lives and helping patients and their families feel better," adds Mr. Ferguson.

Nursing in particular is highlighted, with in-depth information on professional development, profiles of various clinical specialty areas, and opportunities specifically for new graduates.

"Being a nurse at NewYork-Presbyterian means being a part of an amazing nursing team that provides the best possible care with skill, with caring and with compassion. The NewYork-Presbyterian nursing community shares one thing: passion for patients and making a difference in patients' and families' lives," says Wilhelmina Manzano, R.N., senior vice president and chief nursing officer at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

Top-rated in New York City by U.S.News & World Report, the Hospital is simultaneously posting its highest patient and employee satisfaction scores ever. "The success of our Hospital is a direct result of the dedication of our employees," adds Ms. Manzano.
