Palliative Care

Palliative care specialists care for the whole patient, including their body, mind, and spirit and provide support for their caregivers. The goal of palliative care is to relieve suffering and improve quality of life for patients with long-term or life-threatening illnesses.

  • identify and relieve symptoms and pain
  • determine medical appropriateness for hospice
  • offer practical advice related to medical care after leaving the hospital
  • facilitate communication and decisions about goals of care with patients and families
