Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Newborns who are premature or who require medical or surgical management immediately following birth receive expert care in the Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which is overseen by Jeffrey M. Perlman, MD, Director of Newborn Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Komansky Children's Hospital.
Three neonatologists provide care in the recently renovated eight-bed unit. The unit is equipped with advanced support systems, including intravenous nutrition and breathing assistance. Pediatric hospitalists also provide care in the NICU in collaboration with our neonatologists. If subspecialty consultation or care is needed, newborns can be transferred to NewYork-Presbyterian Komansky Children's Hospital.
