Memory Care Volunteer

Enrich the possibilities.

Patients diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or Parkinson's disease and their families often benefit from classes and support groups where they can gain a better understanding of their disease and enhance their quality of life with emotional and social support. As a Memory Care Volunteer, you will help facilitate these meetings under the guidance of the NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital Parkinson's patient care coordinator and the Alzheimer's/Dementia Program coordinator. You will assist with calling patients and mailing monthly newsletters, as well as the development of events. You will be present at movement classes and provide other administrative support such as data collection and maintaining a stock of program materials.

We would love to hear from you if you are: compassionate, a problem solver, an effective communicator, able to work independently, knowledgeable in Microsoft Office, a current college student or recent graduate with a background in social work, psychology, health administration, or related fields (preferred).

Minimum Commitment: Two four-hour shifts per week for a minimum of six months.

Times: Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
