Schedule a Maternity Tour
As part of your pregnancy journey, NewYork-Presbyterian is offering the following classes virtually for our obstetric patients.
- Childbirth Post Partum Webinar (NYP/Columbia University Irving Medical Center)
This two-hour live-streamed class covers the basics of post-partum care, the benefits of breastmilk, and newborn care. You will learn what to expect after birth, how breast milk is produced by the body, breast care, and ways to breastfeed comfortably and effectively. You will learn how to recognize when your baby is hungry, why they need to breastfeed often, and how to be sure your baby is getting enough milk. This class is taught in English and is intended for people who will deliver at the Columbia 165 Street campus.
- Childbirth Prenatal Class Webinar (NYP/Columbia University Irving Medical Center)
This two-hour live-streamed class covers the basics of a healthy birth. Topics addressed include the stages of labor, medical support, and comfort techniques. Learn about laboring at home and the hospital and practice a variety of pain-coping techniques. This class is taught in English and is intended for people who will deliver at the Columbia 165 Street campus.
- Breastfeeding Class Webinar (NYP/Weill Cornell Medicine)
This two-hour class is designed to give new mothers the foundation for breastfeeding. This course teaches when to initiate, how often, and how long to feed. Additional topics covered include maternal factors like nutrition and hydration, when to start pumping, when to introduce bottles, and maternal and infant obstacles to breastfeeding.
- Childbirth Education Class Webinar (NYP/Weill Cornell Medicine)
This is a six-hour childbirth education class broken into two three-hour classes. It is designed to get expectant mothers and their partners ready for the end of pregnancy, labor and birth, and all medical options and what to expect during their hospital stay.
- Childbirth Education Class (NYP Lower Manhattan)
Topics include anatomy and physiology, labor and delivery, some breastfeeding and newborn information, maternal nutrition, and smoking, drinking, and drug use during pregnancy.
Out of an abundance of caution, to reduce gatherings of large groups, we are suspending live maternity tours and classes for obstetric patients at all NewYork-Presbyterian locations. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, and as always, we will continue to prioritize your health and safety.
Please note that your prenatal visits and other medical appointments will continue to proceed as usual.
