Affordable Healthcare, Women’s Health and a variety of other issues were discussed Wednesday when Congresswoman Nita Lowey visited NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital to meet with its employees and tour the Hospital.

As part of a national month honoring cancer survivors, the Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Cancer Center at NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital will hold a special event on June 8 for cancer survivors and their families.

NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital was given an “A” Hospital Safety Score(SM) by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits. The Hospital Safety Score(SM) was calculated under the guidance of The Leapfrog Group’s Blue Ribbon Expert Panel using publicly available data on patient injuries, medical and medication errors, and infections. U.S. hospitals were assigned an A, B, C, D, or F for their safety.

Events and Support Groups Sponsored by NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital (NYPBMH). NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital offers a free breastfeeding support group for new mothers. In keeping with its new initiatives to promote healthy eating, NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital will hold a unique, farm-to-table event that celebrates local farms and encourages people to eat locally for improved health.

On October 1, NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital will host a unique kind of health fair: one that illustrates in an interactive way, what it’s like to get old, and what we can do to help older adults – who are living longer - maintain their quality of life.

'The Art of the Harvest' exhibit featuring photographic works of local novices to professionals will open Monday, September 9 at NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital. The exhibit may be viewed from 8 a.m.to 8 p.m. seven days a week in hospital main lobby and main hallways through January 5.

NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley was recognized as part of The Joint Commission’s 2015 annual report America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety, for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, venous thromboembolism and stroke.
