To help the public reduce the risk of contracting the flu this season, NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital and the Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe are offering free flu vaccines to adults 19 and older. Purvi Shah, MD, MSC, has been named Chief Medical Officer at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. In her new role, Dr. Shah will be responsible for medical staff affairs, oversight of clinical departmental activities, hospital clinical program development, clinical program integration with the NewYork-Presbyterian enterprise, and oversight of graduate medical education.

The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), a joint program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), awarded NewYork-Presbyterian Queens with a national accreditation for its commitment to bariatric patient care.

Dr. Alfred C. Winkler has been named chief of urology at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Dr. Winkler, who is also an assistant professor of clinical urology at Weill Cornell Medicine, was most recently chief of urology at NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital.
