Acupuncture decreased joint symptoms in women with early-stage breast cancer treated with aromatase inhibitors, according to a randomized, multicenter clinical trial led by researchers at NewYork-Presbyterian and Columbia University Irving Medical Center. The findings were presented at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, held Dec. 5 – 9.

Today, NewYork-Presbyterian celebrated the opening of the NewYork-Presbyterian David H. Koch Center, a world-class ambulatory care center that combines innovative clinical approaches and cutting-edge technology to provide exceptional care and a seamless patient experience. February marks Heart Health Month, a time to raise awareness about ways to prevent heart disease and improve cardiovascular functions. Heart disease is a leading cause of death for both men and women. In fact, according to the Heart Health Foundation, cardiovascular diseases take more lives than all forms of cancers combined. “Heart disease kills hundreds of thousands of Americans each year, but many of these conditions are preventable,” said Dr. David Slotwiner, chief, Division of Cardiology, at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens. “Exercise, a balanced diet and avoiding high-risk activities like smoking are some of the best ways to keep your heart healthy.”

For the 12th year in a row, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital ranks in more pediatric specialties than any other New York metro area hospital in U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Children’s Hospitals.” The 2018-19 rankings are published online today.
