A novel genomic blood test can be developed to detect or predict multi-organ dysfunction after mechanical circulatory-support-device implantation in heart failure patients, a new study has found. NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital is the only medical center in the United States to offer minimally invasive liver donation for pediatric transplantation. Surgeons use a laparoscopic technique to remove a section of liver from a living donor for implantation in a pediatric patient — typically a parent donating to their child. The innovative approach promises dramatically improved recovery for the donor.

Dr. Jeffrey W. Moses, an internationally recognized leader in clinical innovation and research, is assuming an expanded role as director of interventional cardiology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. The new program spans the Hospital's two major medical centers -- NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Men concerned about their health will soon have a new health facility designed especially for them, thanks to the generosity of New York's pre-eminent philanthropist Iris Cantor, who donated $20 million toward its establishment. The first of its kind in the region, the Iris Cantor Men's Health Center at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center will provide one-stop comprehensive medical services for men. The Center is scheduled to open in 2012.
