Fellowship at NYP-BMH takes place within a single hospital, allowing fellows to experience the full continuum of cardiovascular care and education in one setting without rotating through multiple sites. The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at BMH offers nearly every service allowing Fellows to care for complex cardiovascular patients from start to end. This includes exposure to cardiac MRI, Cardiac PET, complex high-risk coronary and peripheral interventions (CHIP), Mechanical Circulatory Support, advanced Electrophysiology procedures including ventricular tachycardia ablations, and structural interventions such as TAVR, mTEER, and tTEER.
Our schedule is designed to balance rigorous clinical training with sustainability and well-being. Fellows rotate through core services such as general consults, telemetry and CCU, alongside dedicated time in echocardiography, cardiac catheterization, nuclear cardiology, and multimodality imaging equally throughout the three years. A dedicated night float system minimizes the need for 24-hour calls. There are also multiple faculty who are on call with the Fellow ensuring continuous support and supervision even during weekends and after hours. Overall, this type of scheduling helps us maintain a balanced workload and improve quality of life throughout training.
The hospital is located in Park Slope, Brooklyn, a vibrant and highly desirable neighborhood with excellent connectivity via the F and G subway lines, making commuting straightforward. Current fellows live across Park Slope, Manhattan, New Jersey, and Queens, with a variety of convenient commuting options. For those who prefer to drive, parking garages are available in and around the hospital, making this an easy and practical choice.
Our fellowship is defined not only by its clinical training but also by its culture. There is a strong emphasis on collegiality, wellness and psychological safety. Faculty and leadership are supportive and actively look for feedback in ways to improve the Fellowship. The Fellows are a close-knit group who regularly spend time together outside the hospital, creating a supportive and collaborative environment for training. By the end of three years, fellows feel well prepared and confidently positioned to pursue advanced fellowship training or transition directly into practice as non-invasive cardiologists
