NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital’s Nurse Residency Program has received Accreditation with Distinction from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a recognition for excellence in transitioning nurses to new practice settings. The accreditation from the ANCC’s Practice Transition Accreditation Program is considered the global standard for residency or fellowship programs that transition registered nurses (RNs) and advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) into new practice settings.

 “We are delighted to receive ANCC accreditation and are deeply proud of our dedicated team of nurses,” said Wilhelmina Manzano, MA, RN, NEA-BC, senior vice president and chief nursing executive and chief quality officer at NewYork-Presbyterian. “This recognition is a testament to our commitment to high-quality care for our patients and to a quality transition for our nurses who come to work at NewYork-Presbyterian.”

All new nurses hired at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital within six months of graduating from an accredited nursing school, or nurses hired into their first RN position, are included in the nurse residency program. The evidence-based program focuses on leadership, patient outcomes, and the professional role. It includes monthly seminars and specialized training to increase decision-making competence and confidence, build stronger critical thinking skills, promote the incorporation of research-based evidence into practice, strengthen professional commitment to nursing, and improve the quality of care and safety.
