If you think you are having a heart attack — do not wait, call 911 now. Do not attempt to drive yourself to the hospital.
When you or a family member is experiencing a cardiac emergency, you can trust the heart specialists at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester and NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley to deliver the exceptional, timely care you need. Open 24/7, our two full-service cardiac catheterization labs located just above the ER, are among the few in the Westchester and Hudson Valley area licensed to perform emergency angioplasty and treat heart attacks. Staffed by Columbia interventional cardiologists, along with highly trained nurses, physician assistants, and electrophysiology specialists, we are one of the most experienced programs in the region.
Our program at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester follows the American Heart Association’s “Mission: Lifeline” protocols. Using the LIFENET® System, we receive patients’ cardiac data before they arrive, enabling immediate, lifesaving care the moment they reach our hospital. Our door-to-balloon time — the critical time from hospital arrival to the insertion of a clot-busting balloon — is consistently under 60 minutes, far exceeding the national benchmark of 90 minutes, and reflecting the seamless coordination between our emergency and cath lab teams.
