Epilepsy can be caused by a number of conditions, such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, infection, or degenerative illness, and often requires specialized care from a team of experts. At the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, patients receive unmatched epilepsy care from highly trained neurosurgeons, neuropsychologists, epileptologists (doctors with an expertise in seizures), nurse specialists, EEG technologists, social workers, and other skilled providers. Our goal is to control or reduce the frequency of seizures and their side effects for every patient.
Our Center is home to an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) - a specialized unit that provides in-depth diagnostic and treatment services for patients with epilepsy. A team of specialists supervises patients as they undergo video EEG monitoring, which allows experts to respond immediately if a patient has a seizure. As the only epilepsy center in Queens to offer this level of continuous, multidisciplinary care, you can trust that you or your loved ones will get the treatment and support they need.
