Who We Are Becoming
To provide Queens residents with the best medical care close to home, we are making key investments to expand our facilities, programs, and staff. As the largest acute care hospital in Queens, we are a vital lifeline for patients with severe and urgent health issues. To ensure that our physical spaces reflect the exceptional care offered by our doctors, we are undertaking extensive renovations across several key specialties, including cardiovascular care, neurosciences, cancer care, spine care, and women’s health.
Cancer Care
The expansion of our ultramodern, light-filled Nonna’s Garden Foundation Cancer Care Center will include a colocated infusion center, an on-site pharmacy, and a phlebotomy station. By increasing the number of infusion chairs from nine to 20, we can accommodate an additional 6,200 patient visits annually. This will raise the total from 8,800 patient visits in 2024 to an estimated 15,000 annually. Additionally, upgraded technology, such as a new linear accelerator for advanced radiation therapy, will be installed.
Cardiovascular Care
The borough’s only comprehensive cardiovascular program is receiving investment to modernize interventional laboratory spaces and equip them with the latest technology.
Women's Care
The establishment of 26 private, single-bed postpartum rooms not only provides families with enhanced privacy but also improves safety for both parents and babies.
Spine Care
The world-class expertise of Och Spine—a multidisciplinary team of experts who specialize in spine care—brings state-of-the-art operating room equipment, a dedicated inpatient unit and outpatient sites, and multidisciplinary physicians, nurses, and other team members to NYP Queens. A single phone number makes it easier than ever for patients to connect with the right provider.
Innovative Care
The expansion of 60 intensive care units aims to enhance high-acuity specialty services, supporting cardiovascular care, neurosciences, and surgery. This features the first and only leading-edge neuro-ICU dedicated to the care and recovery of patients with brain and spine conditions. The upgraded surgical lounge, along with the expanded presurgical admission bays and the two new state-of-the-art ORs, enhances the patient experience. In addition, our newly renovated radiology reception area now provides a modern, streamlined environment for patients undergoing X-ray, MRI, CT, and nuclear medicine procedures
