Alzheimer’s disease

Memory care experts at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital’s Alzheimer's program take a collaborative approach to diagnosing and managing Alzheimer’s disease. Our team of interdisciplinary specialists creates individualized treatment plans for every patient and their caregivers to slow progression of the disease and improve quality of life. We offer a full continuum of care for patients diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and other memory and cognitive disorders. The program also offers brain fitness training for older adults.

Parkinson’s disease

The Center for Parkinson's Disease and Other Movement Disorders at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital is the leading destination for treatment, support, and rehabilitation services for people with Parkinson’s disease or other movement disorders. We are the only comprehensive diagnostic and treatment program of its kind in Brooklyn. We offer a special inpatient rehabilitation program for patients with Parkinson's including support groups and a patient navigator who helps to coordinate care for patients being treated at the Center.

Swallowing and speech issues

The Center for Swallowing and Speech-Language Pathology (CSSLP) is the first of its kind in Brooklyn, and one of only a few in New York City. We draw on the expertise of professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide the latest available techniques for the evaluation and treatment of swallowing disorders. Our speech-language pathology staff are certified in LSVT and trained on the Digital Swallow Workstation, cutting-edge equipment for assessing and treating disorders of swallowing and/or speech. The Stroke Center

NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital is designated by New York State and The Joint Commission as a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center. At the Stroke Center, we provide advanced around-the-clock care for people who have suffered an ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke using the latest medical and surgical technologies. Patients begin bedside rehabilitation within 24 to 48 hours of their stroke. NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist has a dedicated inpatient rehabilitation unit accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
