Outpatient Psychiatric Services for Women

NewYork-Presbyterian offers comprehensive outpatient psychiatric services at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health Center, and at hundreds of private offices throughout New York City. Our outpatient services allow women to receive psychotherapy service and medication management while remaining in the community.

Women’s Program at Columbia

The Women’s Program in the NewYork-Presbyterian Columbia University Irving Medical Center Department of Psychiatry focuses on the emotional distress and psychiatric symptoms women may experience through the course of the reproductive life cycle. In collaboration with our colleagues in the Division of Child Psychiatry and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Women’s Program provides evaluation and treatment for women for problems such as depression and anxiety during the menstrual cycle, pregnancy and the postpartum period, and the onset of menopause. Our experts also help women to manage the emotional issues that arise with infertility, pregnancy loss in the course of parenting.

Women’s Mental Health Service at Weill Cornell

The Women’s Evaluation Service provides diagnostic evaluations, treatment consultations, and medication management for mental health issues that span the female reproductive lifecycle. This includes issues ranging from fertility, pre-pregnancy consultations, pregnancy-related disorders, and postpartum spectrum illnesses.

Westchester Women's Clinic

The Women’s Clinic provides specialized diagnostic evaluations, short-term psychotherapy, medication management, and treatment consultations for:

  • Pre-pregnancy planning in women with current or history of psychiatric symptoms
  • Women with current or history of psychiatric symptoms undergoing infertility treatment
  • Pregnant women with current or history of psychiatric symptoms
  • Postpartum women up to 12 months postpartum with current psychiatric symptoms or breastfeeding with current or history of psychiatric symptoms
  • Psychiatric symptoms related to perinatal loss (miscarriage, stillbirth, loss of infant less than twelve months old)
