Patients come from all over the world to NewYork-Presbyterian for renowned expertise in heart surgery. Our physicians are pioneers in valve replacement, leaders in congenital heart disease and obstetric cardiology, as well as experts in cardiac care for athletes.
As pioneers in transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), NewYork-Presbyterian has helped to make TAVR a routine treatment and open-heart surgery a thing of the past for aortic stenosis. For patients with congenital heart disease, NewYork-Presbyterian is a leader in the field with one of the oldest and most robust programs in the country. Our cardiac surgery program also places special emphasis on athletes, helping to manage cardiac conditions that could predispose an athlete to an exercise-induced cardiac emergency. Finally, through our women’s health program, cardiac surgeons collaborate with maternal-fetal medicine specialists to address cardiac issues that can arise during the pregnancy or post-partum period such as heart failure, valve disorders, and hypertension.
