NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital has a storied history of caring for Brooklyn—from the dockworkers who fueled the borough’s historic port to the thousands of expectant mothers who have entrusted “the Baby Hospital of Brooklyn” with their children’s delivery into the world.

Through our affiliation with Weill Cornell Medicine, we are bringing the best academic medicine to all Brooklyn residents so they can access care in their own neighborhood. This includes not only the top doctors, groundbreaking research and clinical trials, and medical education, but also the resources, spaces, and collaborative culture found only at one of New York’s top hospitals. And our journey has only just begun.

Our Investment Opportunities

To provide Brooklyn residents with exceptional medical care they cannot find anywhere else in the borough, we are making key investments to expand our facilities, clinical programs, and staff. These upgrades will have a lasting impact on the communities we serve: As a major teaching hospital in Brooklyn, we are a vital lifeline for patients with the most severe and urgent health issues.

Ambulatory Care

We have a robust network of 16 outpatient practices throughout Brooklyn, ensuring that residents can get consistently excellent care from Bushwick to Bensonhurst. Our anchor site, the NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital Center for Community Health, has been the borough’s largest ambulatory care center in Brooklyn since opening in 2021. At the Center, patients can easily access preventive, diagnostic, and same-day surgical care in one location, eliminating the need for multiple visits across different days.

In spring 2026, we further expanded access by opening a 16,000-square-foot outpatient facility in Bay Ridge. Like the Center for Community Health, the Bay Ridge location delivers 23 medical specialties under one roof, making it easier for residents to receive the highest-quality care in their own backyard. 

Brain and Behavioral Health

To meet demand amid a nationwide mental health crisis, NYP Brooklyn Methodist has significantly expanded its brain and behavioral health services. Our innovative outpatient program integrates mental health, substance abuse, and primary care services, while our newly upgraded, 36-bed inpatient unit now has 12 beds dedicated to treating higher-acuity patients.

These investments have had a profound impact at both the individual and the community levels. Expanding access makes it easier to find timely and high-quality care while reducing strain on an already taxed system and helping address the citywide shortage of psychiatric beds.

Cancer Care and Infusion Therapy

Our state-of-the-art infusion center is equipped to treat all forms of cancer and other complex, chronic conditions such as blood disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis, anemia, and osteoporosis. We are actively expanding our pediatric services to treat children and adolescents with nononcologic conditions, such as sickle cell disease and inflammatory bowel disease.

Our affiliation with Weill Cornell Medicine’s Sandra and Edward Meyer Cancer Center brings leading-edge cancer care from Manhattan to one of the most diverse boroughs in New York City. Through this partnership, patients gain access to the latest therapies and clinical trials that would otherwise be out of reach.

By expanding access to more inclusive clinical trials, we can advance breakthrough treatments for all.

Cardiovascular Care

Heart disease is a leading cause of death in Brooklyn—but with the right intervention, its course can be corrected to support a long and healthy life. NYP Brooklyn Methodist is expanding services across prevention, diagnosis, and treatment so patients can get timely care in their own neighborhood.

Renovating the cardiac catheterization lab procedure rooms and family waiting area will increase capacity, reduce wait times, and improve the experience for patients and their loved ones. The expansion in advanced cardiac imaging—including cardiac CT, MRI, and 3D echocardiography—will help deliver more accurate diagnoses, safer procedures, and improved long-term outcomes.

As cardiology procedures become more minimally invasive, the need for prolonged hospital stays will decrease. However, short-term observation will remain essential. In 2026, we will establish a dedicated 23-hour short-stay unit for patients who need to be monitored after a procedure but do not require inpatient admission—so they can recover quickly and return home. Faster and more efficient turnover will allow us to see more patients without sacrificing quality of care and safety

Women’s Health

Every woman deserves the best healthcare at every stage of her life, yet many cannot access what they need. In response, NYP Brooklyn Methodist is investing in spaces, talent, and programs that unite the full spectrum of women’s health services and provide an excellent experience.

Our goal is to have all women feel understood and cared for, whether they come to us for a gynecologic cancer screening, to diagnose and manage osteoporosis, or to deliver their first child. Our new dedicated Women’s Health floor in the Center for Community Health offers coordinated support to meet women’s needs throughout their lifespan, such as preventive care, a dedicated imaging center, and specialty services such as prenatal care and genetic counseling. 

To better support new parents welcoming their newborns, we are also enhancing inpatient maternity care through the establishment of all-private, single-bedded postpartum rooms. These improvements will provide families with greater privacy while supporting safer, more comfortable care during a critical time.
