NewYork-Presbyterian Queens offers a full spectrum of radiologic procedures, using state-of-the-art digital imaging equipment. In addition to general radiology, the department provides Vascular Interventional services; and a Women’s Imaging Center including breast MRI and stereotactic, ultrasound or MRI-guided biopsies. In conjunction with the cardiology team, radiology specialists perform cardiac imaging utilizing the state-of-the-art Siemens 128 slice CAT Scanner and MRI. NewYork-Presbyterian Queens also has a newly renovated state-of-the-art nuclear medicine treatment area. The Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) allows physicians to immediately view patient exams from the doctor’s office via secure Internet access.
But it takes more than state-of-the-art equipment to provide a truly superior service. It demands a staff of competent, caring board-certified Radiologists, experienced nurses, highly trained technologists and a skilled clerical staff whose primary concerns are the needs of the patient, and their physicians.

We do our very best to accommodate patients’ busy lives by scheduling convenient appointments. The clerical staff schedule appointments for all procedures and six dedicated phone lines minimize patient waiting time. Most appointments can be scheduled within one day, and all emergencies are handled with a same day appointment.
We have also expanded our hours of operation to facilitate late afternoon, early evening and weekend appointments for CT scans, MRI, Digital Mammography, and Ultrasound. A board-certified Radiologist is on duty to supervise all procedures in the Department until 11 p.m. every night.
Patient Convenience and Comfort
The Imaging Service is located in a separate, ancillary wing, away from the flow of hospital patients. The reception and waiting rooms have an attractive, home-like atmosphere.

Rapid Reporting
Results are faxed and mailed to the referring physician within 48 hours. Physicians have immediate access to a patient’s examination results through patient's Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Professional Team
The radiology staff includes 24 full-time, board-certified radiologists, all of whom hold faculty appointments at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. The radiologists have had additional subspecialty training in neuroradiology, cross-sectional imaging, ultrasound and interventional radiology. Radiologists are available from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., seven days a week. The radiology team also provides coverage off hours through the “Imaging on Call” tele-radiography service for around-the-clock radiology consultations for all emergencies.
The team includes more than 75 technologists who are licensed by New York State and are registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. All divisions of the Radiology Department are affiliated with technologist training programs to ensure that staff remain current in imaging advances.
The radiology group has been in practice at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens since 1966, including an additional 20 years of experience in private practice as Main Street Radiology. Our mammography division was one of the first in the area to receive accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR).
Women's Imaging Center
The Women’s Imaging Center offers the latest imaging procedures performed by board certified radiologists and highly trained technologists on the most advanced imaging equipment available. This includes GE digital mammography units with a CAD system to assist the Radiologist in making a more accurate diagnosis, Phillips ultrasound units, a mammotome biopsy unit; breast MR imaging and MR guided biopsies. The breast imaging service at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens has become a major referral center over the past decade for screening and diagnostic mammography, in addition to specific problems of mammographic diagnosis.

The Women’s Imaging Center performs breast biopsies using a vacuum assisted system. This method aids in the diagnosis of a breast abnormality such as micro calcifications and speculated masses. This procedure is done on an outpatient basis and usually takes less than an hour.
ER Radiology
The emergency room at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens is a level 1 trauma center, equipped with a Siemens Multislice CT scanner, two state-of-the-art digital radiographic trauma rooms as well as two computerized radiography readers.
