Hospital conference room to be dedicated in honor of former Emergency Department Director

Hometown doctor, Navy flight surgeon and former director of NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital’s Emergency Department, John A. McGurty, MD was honored Monday, March 7 at 12 noon with the dedication of a new hospital conference room in his name. Dr. McGurty, HVHC’s Director of Emergency Medicine from 1996-2003, has served tours of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan as a U.S. Navy reservist and Medical Corps Captain. He returns overseas later this month for his third military deployment in recent years. A ceremony was held and a plaque was unveiled by NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital’s President John Federspiel. The conference room tribute was sponsored by Emergency Medical Associates, the physicians group which cares for Hospital Emergency Room patients.
