CIO Magazine has named NewYork-Presbyterian a 2017 CIO 100 Award winner. The 30th annual awards program honors and recognizes the cutting-edge innovations of companies that demonstrate excellence and achievement in information technology. The 2017 CIO 100 Awards were presented at the CIO 100 Symposium and Awards Ceremony on August 14 to 16, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

NewYork-Presbyterian was recognized for its innovative telemedicine program, NYP OnDemand, a comprehensive suite of digital health services that delivers care and expertise from ColumbiaDoctors and Weill Cornell Medicine, confidentially and securely. NYP OnDemand allows patients to quickly and easily communicate with these doctors from a mobile phone, tablet or computer. In addition to improving and expanding access to care, NYP OnDemand also enables NewYork Presbyterian’s physicians to seamlessly consult with their peers.

“We are honored to be recognized by CIO Magazine for our work with NYP OnDemand,” said Daniel Barchi, senior vice president and chief information officer at NewYork-Presbyterian. “This technology brings our amazing care to your mobile phone, tablet or computer in a safe and secure way, helping more patients take control of their health from the comfort of their own homes.”

Launched in July 2016, NYP OnDemand’s services include: Second Opinion, which provides another perspective on symptoms, diagnosis or treatment plan from the expert physicians at NewYork-Presbyterian through an easy-to-access online portal; Inter-hospital Consult, which connects physicians across NewYork-Presbyterian’s hospital sites through video-conferencing to collaborate on patient cases and provide their specialty insight; Digital Urgent Care, for patients with non-life threatening illnesses and injuries to access the urgent care service for rapid treatment through a live video visit; Virtual Visit, a convenient way to meet with a doctor without traveling to their office; Digital ED Express Care, a virtual visit with a clinician for patients already in the Emergency Department that can significantly reduce wait time; and Mobile Stroke Treatment Unit, an emergency vehicle specially furnished to bring top-quality care to stroke victims as rapidly as possible.

“NYP OnDemand has helped cement our strong digital presence and allowed us to reach more patients and provide them with the high quality care NewYork-Presbyterian is known for,” said Dr. Peter Fleischut, senior vice president and chief transformation officer at NewYork-Presbyterian. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work and innovation of the entire NewYork-Presbyterian team who collaborated across departments to create this exceptional telehealth program.”
