Brooklyn, New York

NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital recently held its 2017 Nurse Recognition Awards Ceremony. More than 130 staff members were honored at the ceremony, including 13 who received special recognition.

“This is a very special event for us,” said Rebecca Flood, R.N., chief nursing officer. “It is important to acknowledge our nursing staff for the contributions they make to healthcare and the nursing profession.”

“We want to let you know that the day-to-day, hands-on care that you provide every day is deeply appreciated,” said Steven Silber, D.O., chief medical officer. “Everything you do makes a tremendously positive impact on the people who put their lives in your hands.”

Noel Emde, R.N., a critical care nurse who lives in Bay Ridge, received the prestigious Nurse of Distinction Award for his mentorship and commitment to care. Even though he has only been with NYP Brooklyn Methodist for a year, he has already had a major impact on those around him, receiving many nominations for the award. “The minute I stepped into this Hospital and decided I would work here, I knew right off the bat that I was joining a family. That is important,” Mr. Emde said. “I am grateful not only for this award, but for the opportunity to work with an incredible staff."
