Brooklyn, NY

New York Methodist Hospital is this year's Consumer's Choice Award winner for the borough of Brooklyn. This is the fifth year in a row the Hospital has received the award and the first time that NYM was named the sole winner for Brooklyn. The award, given by the National Research Corporation, recognizes hospitals with outstanding service and quality in 300 markets across the U.S.

"Healthcare has become an increasingly important issue across the country and empowered consumers are making decisions for themselves and their families when selecting their healthcare facilities and services," said Ginny Martin, president of NRC's Ticker Division. "Consumer Choice award winners exemplify the dedication it takes to provide quality healthcare to their communities."

Winners are determined by consumer perceptions of multiple quality and image ratings collected in the company's survey. The winning facilities rank highest in their Metropolitan Statistical Areas (in this case, Kings County), as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Mark J. Mundy, president and CEO of New York Methodist, expressed his pride in the Hospital's accomplishment. "This award recognizes that consumers these days do have a choice. It's good to see confirmation that we are "getting things right" and, as a result, our Hospital is the first choice of Brooklynites throughout the borough. Our wonderful staff of doctors, nurses and other health professionals works very hard and they deserve much credit. It's good to see that our patients and our community understand what a great job our people do.
