New York Methodist Hospital offers a free breastfeeding support group for new mothers. This group meets weekly on Tuesdays from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Breastfeeding Support Group focuses on providing encouragement and information for mothers and their newborns, from birth to three months old. A certified lactation consultant leads the group. The meetings take place in the Hospital's Wesley House, Rooms 3K-C, 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital offers bereavement support groups, led by a licensed clinical social worker, for people who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The Bereavement Support Group will meet on Wednesday, November 5, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and the Perinatal Bereavement Support Group will meet later that evening from 8:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Both meetings take place in the Hospital's Buckley 8 Conference Room located at 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital will host a free lung cancer screening awareness day. The Second Annual Fred L. Mazzilli Lung Cancer Screening Awareness Day will feature free blood pressure and spirometry screenings, giveaways, celebrity appearances and an educational lecture. Light refreshments will be served. The event will take place Thursday, November 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hospital's Carrington Pavilion Atrium, located at 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital hosts several free support groups for individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and their caregivers.

  • The Parkinson's Disease Patient Support Group will meet on Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Wesley House 6A, located at 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
  • The Parkinson's Wellness and Exercise Class will take place on Thursday, November 13, 2014  from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 748 Union Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
  • The Parkinson's Caregivers Support Group will meet on Thursday, November 13, 2014  from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Call for location.

New York Methodist Hospital offers a free cancer support group open to individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones. The Cancer Support Group will meet on Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Hospital's Wesley House, Room 6B, 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital offers free diabetes support groups. The groups are facilitated by a certified diabetes educator and are open to people living with diabetes, as well as those who have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes.

  • Join the Insulin Pump Support Group for a discussion on the topic of "Making the Continuous Glucose Monitoring Sensor Work for You" on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Hospital's Executive Dining Room, located at 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
  • Join the Diabetes Support Group for a discussion on the topic of "Mindful Holiday Eating" on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Hospital's Buckley 8 Conference Room, located at 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.

NYM World Diabetes DayNew York Methodist Hospital will host a free health fair, marking World Diabetes Day. The event will feature free blood pressure screenings, free dental screenings and free podiatry evaluations. Diabetes educators, a pharmacists and registered dieticians will also be available to answer questions. NYM will observe World Diabetes Day on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Hospital's Carrington Pavilion Atrium, located at 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. 2014 red stocking soireeNew York Methodist Hospital will hold a "Taste of Brooklyn" fundraising event featuring diverse culinary delights and beverages from Park Slope's best restaurants. The event will also feature a culinary-inspired silent auction and raffle and gourmet goody bags filled with Brooklyn-made products.
