New York

NewYork-Presbyterian today announced the launch of a new smartphone application for patients of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and the NewYork-Presbyterian Regional Hospital Network. Developed by the NewYork-Presbyterian Innovation Center, the app is designed to enhance the patient experience by improving access and communication with the Hospital and its physicians.

"The health and well-being of our patients is our top priority, and it drives our continued commitment to improving the overall patient experience," says Dr. Steven J. Corwin, president and CEO, NewYork-Presbyterian. "We treat more than two million patients each year. This technology will allow us to create new touchpoints and enhance communication, which benefits both our patients and our physicians. We're excited about this next step in offering our patients the best possible experience."

Initial features of the NewYork-Presbyterian mobile application include:

  • Find a Physician: Find physicians quickly for any specialty at any NewYork-Presbyterian location.
  • Mobile Bill Payment: Use the mobile online payment system to quickly pay bills.
  • Hospital Services Information: Get directions to NewYork-Presbyterian hospitals and information about primary care and specialty services, including contact information for appointment scheduling and questions.
  • Connect with Us: Access the @NYPHospital Twitter feed for all of the latest news from NewYork-Presbyterian.

The free app is available today on the Apple App Store and can be downloaded here. The Android version will be available in the Google Play Store in February.

"More and more, people are using mobile applications to make important decisions, including managing their personal health," says Daniel Barchi, chief information officer of NewYork-Presbyterian. "Our mobile application will empower our patients to take control of their healthcare by offering seamless access to a wide array of services from the convenience of their smartphone."

The NewYork-Presbyterian Innovation Center is already working on new features to include in future updates to the app. Among these features are a visitor's guide with an interactive map of the Hospital to help patients and their families prepare for their stay, as well as enhanced telehealth features including virtual follow-up appointments, second opinions and remote patient monitoring.
