New York, NY
All NewYork-Presbyterian hospitals now have a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the highest rating in CMS’s annual quality measurement program for hospitals. Only 12% of the 3,203 star-rated hospitals nationwide earned five-star status in the most recent Care Compare data, which evaluates outcomes, patient experience and process.
“We are proud to be recognized by CMS for our commitment to patient safety and delivering the highest quality care,” said Dr. Brian G. Donley, president and chief executive officer of NewYork-Presbyterian. “This achievement is a testament to our extraordinary physicians, nurses and teams whose skill, dedication and compassion allow us to provide exceptional care and put patients’ safety first.”
The CMS star rating provides patients with an overall rating by combining many measures across five key areas – mortality, safety, readmissions, patient experience, and timely, effective care – into a single score.
The five-star designation applies to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, NewYork-Presbyterian Queens and NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital. NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is made up of eight hospital campuses:
- NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital
- NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital
- NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center
- NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital
- NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of Children’s Hospital of New York
- NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center
- NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester
- NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health
NewYork-Presbyterian’s commitment to patient safety was also recognized recently with an “A” Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group.
