New York Methodist Hospital hosts several free support groups for individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

• The Parkinson's Wellness and Exercise Yoga Class will take place on Friday, May 1 and 15, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Hospital's Wesley House, Room 6B, located at 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
• The Parkinson's Wellness and Exercise Dance Class will take place on Thursday, May 14 and 28, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Hospital's Wesley House, Room 6B, located at 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
• The Parkinson's Disease Patient Support Group will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Hospital. Call for location.

New York Methodist Hospital offers a free breastfeeding support group for new mothers. This group meets weekly on Tuesdays from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Breastfeeding Support Group focuses on providing encouragement and information for mothers and their newborns, from birth to three months old. A certified lactation consultant leads the group. The meetings take place in the Hospital's Wesley House, Rooms 3K-C, located at 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital, in partnership with Greater Brooklyn Health Coalition and Dancewave, offers free weekly heart-pumping hip-hop dance classes. Dance Your Heart Healthy meets weekly on Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at P.S. 269, located at 1957 Nostrand Avenue in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Walk-ins welcome. New York Methodist Hospital offers bereavement support groups, led by a licensed clinical social worker, for people who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The Bereavement Support Group will meet on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and the Perinatal Bereavement Support Group will meet later that evening from 8:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Both meetings take place in the Hospital's Buckley 8 Conference Room located at 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital offers a free support group for individuals who have been recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). The Living with MS Support Group offers information and a place to begin to discuss concerns, experiences and resources. The group meets on Tuesdays in May, beginning May 12, 2015, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The meetings take place in the Hospital's Buckley 8 Conference Room located at 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital offers a free cancer support group open to individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones. The Cancer Support Group will meet on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Hospital's Wesley House, Room 6A, 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital offers free diabetes support groups. The groups are facilitated by a certified diabetes educator and are open to people living with diabetes, as well as those who have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes.

• The Insulin Pump Support Group meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, 2015, has been cancelled.
• Join the Diabetes Support Group for a discussion on the topic of Cooking with Diabetes on Thursday, May 28, 2015.

New York Methodist Hospital offers a free monthly senior seminar series at Brooklyn College. This month joinNYM's attending vascular surgeon Michael Shapiro, M.D., as he presents A Clear Path to Your Vascular Health. May is American Stroke Month and in observance, New York Methodist Hospital will sponsor Stroke Alert! Day. This health fair will feature free blood pressure screenings and free educational information from the American Stroke Association. NYM healthcare professionals will be available to answer questions.
