New York Methodist Hospital hosts several free support groups for individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

  • The Parkinson's Wellness and Exercise Yoga Class will take place on Friday, January 2 and Friday, January 16, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 748 Union Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
  • The Parkinson's Wellness and Exercise Dance Class will take place on Thursday, January 8 and Thursday, January 22, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 748 Union Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
  • The Parkinson's Disease Patient Support Group will take place on Thursday, January 15, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Executive Dining Room, located at 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.

New York Methodist Hospital offers a free breastfeeding support group for new mothers. This group meets weekly on Tuesdays from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Breastfeeding Support Group focuses on providing encouragement and information for mothers and their newborns, from birth to three months old. A certified lactation consultant leads the group. The meetings take place in the Hospital's Wesley House, Rooms 3K-C, 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital offers bereavement support groups, led by a licensed clinical social worker, for people who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The Bereavement Support Group will meet on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and the Perinatal Bereavement Support Group will meet later that evening from 8:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Both meetings take place in the Hospital's Buckley 8 Conference Room located at 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New A womanYork Methodist Hospital offers free cancer support groups open to individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones. Look Good…Feel Better®, "helping women with cancer feel beautiful inside and out," will meet on Thursday, January 15, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Hospital's Wesley House 6A, 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital offers a free monthly senior seminar series at Brooklyn College. This month learn about prevention, diagnosis and treatment of common eye disorders with NYM's Robert Feig, M.D., and Irida Llambiri, O.D., as they present Keep Your Eyes on the Prize. The seminar will take place on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Occidental Room of the Brooklyn College Student Center located on the fifth floor at East 27th Street and Campus Road. New York Methodist Hospital hosts a free hepatitis C (HCV) support group for people living with HCV and their loved ones. The group is directed by a physician specializing in liver disorders. The Hepatitis C Support Group will meet on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Please call 718-780-3125 for the location and to make a reservation (required).

New York Methodist Hospital offers free surgical weight reduction information seminars and support group meetings open to individuals interested in learning about surgical weight reduction, as well as those who have undergone surgical weight reduction. This month the NYM Surgical Weight Reduction Information Seminar and Support Group meeting will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Hospital's Executive Dining Room located at 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital offers a free diabetes support group. The group is facilitated by a certified diabetes educator and is open to people living with diabetes, as well as those who have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes. Join the Diabetes Support Group for a discussion on the topic of New Year, New You on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Hospital's Buckley 8 Conference Room located at 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
