The Center for Youth Mental Health at NewYork-Presbyterian (formerly the Youth Anxiety Center) celebrated its 10th anniversary and a new name that underscores its commitment to addressing the broader youth mental health crisis. The dinner, hosted by Dr. Steven J. Corwin, president and chief executive officer of NewYork-Presbyterian; Anna Wintour, chief content officer of Condé Nast, and global editorial director of Vogue; Sienna Miller, actress; and Dr. Alexandria (Zandy) Forbes, president and chief executive officer of MeiraGTx; was held June 12 at Verōnika in the Flatiron District and raised $4 million.

The evening featured a discussion between Chioma Nnadi, editor of Vogue.com, and Cara Delevingne, actress and model, about her personal mental health struggles and the need to prioritize youth mental health. The dinner, benefitting the Center, raised funds for the expansion of services and resources available to youth and their families.

“We are deeply grateful to our donors for their generous support in making the Center for Youth Mental Health at NewYork-Presbyterian a vital destination for comprehensive mental health resources, information and clinical care for young people and their families,” said Dr. Francis Lee, co-director of the Center for Youth Mental Health at NewYork-Presbyterian. Dr. Lee is also psychiatrist-in-chief at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.

“We thank our donors for their generosity, which makes it possible for the Center for Youth Mental Health to carry out its important work addressing the increasing mental health challenges facing today’s youth through innovative research, clinical advancements, and compassionate care,” said Dr. Blair Simpson, co-director of the Center for Youth Mental Health at NewYork-Presbyterian. Dr. Simpson is also interim psychiatrist-in-chief at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Founded in 2013, the Center for Youth Mental Health at NewYork-Presbyterian was established to help provide support to young people with anxiety and depression and their families. The cross-institutional enterprise led by nationally renowned doctors and researchers from the psychiatry departments at Weill Cornell Medicine and Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons is unique in its specialized focus on the mental health of teens and young adults. The Center offers an integrated approach to the care of its patients, providing treatment programs ranging from outpatient therapy and intensive day treatment to parent group therapy and college readiness programs.

The Center is 100 percent donor funded. Over the past 10 years, the generosity of the Center’s supporters has been critical to providing treatment sessions to thousands of patients across New York City and the tri-state area. The Center treats all patients and strives to be a vital resource for the multicultural, ethnically diverse, and LGBTQ+ communities it serves.
