Steadfast in providing joy to kids who are battling hunger or illness, the Baskin-Robbins® Joy in Childhood Foundation® in partnership with the Rao Network recently recognized the incredible work of NewYork-Presbyterian CHALK (Choosing Healthy Lifestyles for Kids). Operating under NYP’s Ambulatory Care Network, CHALK aligns outpatient services with community-based programs to foster healthier lifestyles for kids.
Through its Baskin-Robbins® locations across New York City, the Rao Network raised funds to benefit the CHALK program and the children and families it serves. Rao Network CEO Rao Tummala and his team visited NYP to present the donation and thank NYP staff for their work advancing community health.
CHALK is a portfolio of programs that support children, families, and their neighborhoods. Focused on preventing chronic illness and promoting community wellness, the programs connect communities to safe and joyful public spaces to play and move, nutritious food, jobs and secure employment, and supportive relationships with community-based organizations.
Critical to CHALK’s approach are collaborations with nonprofit organizations, emergency food providers, and other partners across New York City and Westchester County. Each program leverages our combined strengths to respond to community needs in neighborhoods such as Washington Heights/Inwood, Chinatown, Crown Heights, Corona, and Peekskill.
